The Trifari Jewelry Company was created in 1918 by Gustavo Trifari who had immigrated to this country from Italy in 1904 and founded Trifari NYC in 1910. Considered one of the largest and best known producers of costume jewelry, producing he highest quality and styles from imaginative sterling vermeil figurals of the 1940's to its classic gold and silver-tone styles.
This Trifari necklace is marked Trifari TM. This mark dates back to the late 1980s or early 1990s when Trifari was recreating some of their most popular figural jewelry for sale on HSN and QVC. The TM jewelry is the last of the American made Trifari as Trifari was bought by Liz Claiborne and moved production out of the USA.
This gorgeous Trifari necklace is composed of a gold tone mesh link chain that measures 14" in length, 1/2" in width with an additional 3 1/2" extender chain. The gold-tone center medallion, measuring 1 3/4" in length, holds a huge emerald cut diamond rhinestone set in a field of black enamel and bordered on each side by four baguette cut diamond rhinestones. The piece is in near mint condition.
