Artist A. Koch was well know for his painting of still-life fruit designs.
This lovely china plate carries the transfer of one of his designs and signature "A.Koch". Two clusters of lush green and purple grapes hang from an autumn leave laden branch against a shaded background of vivid crimson, dark green to pale yellow. Several blackberries appear near the base. The gently scalloped plate has gold trim. The back of the plate is marked "J & C - Louise Bavaria - G H B Co.", for Jaeger & Co., circa 1898-1923. The plate is 8 1/2" in diameter and has no cracks, chips or repairs.
