The largest and most famous decorating Chicago studio, Pickard attracted the best of the best artists of the time.
Edward S. Challinor was probably the most notable of the Pickard Studio family of great artists. The center of the plate portrays a beautiful pair of golden pheasants in shades of golden yellow, burgundy and black, sitting on a branch among an array of pastel pink wild rose blossoms against a background of muted gray, blue and green trees and foliage encircled with a gold encrusted border.
