The Maciel Silver Factory was based in Mexico City, Mexico, from 1930 until 1970, at No 6 Sadi Carnot. The company manufactured high quality silver hollow-ware and a limited line of flat-ware along with some jewelry which consisted of mostly cuff bracelets.
This lovely hand crafted sterling silver chalice, circa 1950's, is an excellent example of their quality craftsmanship. It measures 3 3/4" in height, 3 1/2" across the top, 2 1/4" across the base and weights 7.090 ounces. It is stamped "Maciel - Sterling - Made In Mexico - 0.925"' this stamp was used from 1948 until the factory closed in 1970. The chalice is in very good condition; the base has had several minor dents professionally straightened (see photos). Great piece of Mexican craftsmanship.
