Hand decorated porcelain is beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home studio environment. The end result is what really matters.
This gorgeous "Art Deco" design hand painted cabinet plate, circa 1920, was expertly created in a home studio environment. The wide border is decorated with four clusters of three bell flowers in shaded of antique gold, rust and olive green outlined in black or gold. Separating the bell flowers are five large antique gold leaves outlined in black. The flowers and leaves are connected by a network of heavy gold Deco design. The outer edge is gently scalloped and embossed with a rope pattern decorated with gold. Signed by the artist "Baumy" with gold enamel.
The plate measures 8" across and is stamped in green with a circular mark "Limoges - P. B. - France", an importing mark used by the Chicago based Pitkin & Brooks retailer that imported and decorated porcelain from 1872-1938. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; lovely Art Deco motif.
