Hand painted china is beautiful and unique as it portrays the artists emotions and visions for the subject he or she is creating. This beautiful hand painted portrait plate, circa 1900, was created in a small home studio environment by a very talented individual with great attention to detail and subject naturalism.
This lovely portrait plate, in a soft satin finish, portrays a darling young girl adorned in her new Easter outfit consisting of a long sleeve white dress and large brimmed Easter hat with feather plume, both outlined and highlighted in shades of gray. Her beautiful innocent angelic face, dark eyes, pink lips and cheeks are framed by long, curly dark blond hair trailing down to her shoulders and beyond. She is carefully watching a golden yellow butterfly that is sitting on a blossom of the Easter Lily plant that stands to her right. The soft green foliage of the plant is adorned with three lovely blossoms and an unopened bud. The background of this stunning scene is a muted pastel blue-gray against the white porcelain blank.
The plate measures 8" across and is stamped "T & V France", the mark of Tressemann & Vogt porcelain company, circa 1892-1907. Unfortunately the talented artist did not sign their piece of art. There are no cracks, chips, repair or paint wear.
