Founded in 1794 in Tettau, Bavaria, the Royal Bayreuth firm is well known for it's superior quality porcelain items.
This scarce figural mountain goat open sugar bowl features the head of the goat with his long, stripped horns wrapped around the sides of the bowl. Realistic colors of golden tan, shaded browns and black create a stunning image. The tear-drop shaped bowl measures 5 3/4" in length, 3 3/4" in width and 2 1/4" in height. It is stamped in blue with one Lion, "T", "1794" and "Royal Bayreuth - Bavaria". Note that Bavaria is printed upside-down. This mark was used from 1885 until 1902 when it was replaced with marks showing two Lions. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; colors are more vivid than photos present.
