Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory, professional or small home studio environment. The overall artistic quality of the item is what really matters.
This lovely porcelain hand painted egg-shaped toothpick holder, circa 1920, was created in a small home studio with wonderful artistic abilities. The shape of the holder is itself unique as it is in the form of a broken egg with an irregular top which rests on an open base formed by four arched legs. The front and back is decorated with clusters of pale to medium blue forget-me-not blossoms and pastel green leaves linked together by a garland of single flowers. The background is a combination of pale blue at the top blending into the white porcelain blank. The arched base is gold decorated. The toothpick holder measures 2 3/4"" in height and the porcelain blank is unmarked as to maker. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition.
