This gorgeous hand painted cabinet plate, circa 1930, was executed in either a professional decorating studio or a small home studio environment on an unmarked white-ware blank by an accomplished artist. The design is executed in heavy, encrusted gold, silver and burgundy enamels to created a 3-dimensional motif of spring wild grasses, leave laden stems of marigold blossoms and the image of a beautiful butterfly hovering over the floral display. The smooth edge is also trimmed with gold.
The coup-style plate measures 9" across. The only marking is a hand applied on the back "B5444" which may be a pattern identifying mark. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition and breathtaking design.
