Hand painted china is so beautiful no matter if done in a factory, professional decorating studio or in a small home-studio environment. The overall quality of the piece is what really matters. This beautiful dresser vanity set was expertly decorated in a home-studio on closely matched porcelain blanks obtained from different porcelain makers.
The set, circa 1910, consists of a large size dresser tray, covered powder box, pin tray and perfume bottle. The matching motif on each piece incorporates the white-ware blanks decorated with wide pink borders, gold bands, trim and gracefully monogrammed letter 'L' and a lovely golden tan and black woven basket filled with delicate pink rose blossoms and blue forget-me-not flowers nestled in soft green foliage. Each piece is artist signed 'A E Willans'.
The dresser tray, with rounded corners, measures 11 1/2" in length and 8 3/8" across at the widest parts. The stamp is blurred and illegible.
The round powder box measures 4 1/4" across and 2 1/4" in height. It is stamped "B & Co - France".
The pin tray measures 5" in length and 3 1/2" across. It is stamped "A K D - France".
The perfume w/stopper measures 3 3/4" in height. It is stamped |"R S Germany".
