This lovely pair of hand painted candlesticks was executed in a small home-studio environment in the early 1900's by a talented porcelain artist.
The white porcelain blanks are decorated on all sides with clusters and stems ablaze with delicate five-petal light-to-medium-to-darker blue blossoms with yellow centers and dark stamens, nestled among pale green and tan shaded foliage. The background shades from soft pastel blue at the base to near white and back to pastel blue at the top. The flowers are probably a variety of the forget-me-not family. The top edge and candle socket and some scroll-work near the base is gold gilt. The candlesticks measure 6 5/8" in height, 3" across the base and 1 1/2" across the top. Both are stamped in green "B & Co, France", a mark used by the Bernardaud Company, circa 1900-1914. There are no cracks, chips or repairs, in near mint condition. Unfortunately they pieces are not signed by the artist. signature. Lovely.
