This beautiful cabinet/serving plate, circa 1890, was executed by Delinieres & Co. Limoges France, for export and sale by the Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Co., St Louis. It may have originally been part of a larger fish set or as a decorative cabinet plate. The blank has a gently scalloped edge and wide border of embossed seashells. The center shows a large and several smaller fish swimming against a white and blue streaked background representing water. The wide border is gorgeous shaded cobalt blue decorated with gold seaweed and other aquatic vegetation enhanced by brushed gold trim.
The plate measures 9" across and is stamped in green "D & C France", circa 1879-1900, and in red with the mark of Mermod & Jaccard Jewelry Company. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Beautiful plate.
