Founded in 1775 by Frantz Heinrich Muller (1738-1820), the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufactory, later became Royal Copenhagen. For over two centuries, Royal Copenhagen has supplied homes in Denmark and Internationally with art and design of the highest quality.
This lovely Royal Copenhagen figurine is of a peasant farm girl in a blue dress and white apron. Her hair is pulled back in a braid and a dotted scarf keeps loose hairs out of her face. She has a pretty serious expression on her face; obviously, she is at work. She carries a long stick, using it to keep her big goose traveling down the correct path. Designed by artist Christen Thompsen and was produced from 1969-1974. The artist's mark "CThr" is on the base by the left wooden shoe. The back-stamp in green is a crown "Royal Copenhagen - Denmark" & "527" with blue wavy lines. The artist's initials in blue "F,M.". The mark indicates that this piece was made between 1969-1973. It also has a gold foil label "ABS - A. B. Schou - NY Ostergade 1", representing the store at which was originally purchased in Copenhagen. The figure measures 9" in height and 4 1/4" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
