This open compote on a low standard is called 'Cupids Hunt' . Made by Dithridge Glass Co., Pittsburg, PA, circa 1879. This type of very detailed pattern glass is called Crystallography or Crystalloid. The compote features detailed scenes all the way around the bowl, of wingless Cupid-like figures hunting deer with a dog, fishing in a boat, blowing a horn, dragging a net full of fish up from the sea, etc. Amazing, clear detail.
The compote measures 8" across the top, 5 1/4" in height and 4 1/4" across the base. Their are no cracks, chips or repairs. Wonderful scarce early pattern.
