Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home studio environment. The quality of the finished product is what really counts.
This gorgeous hand painted gold encrusted serving/dresser tray was expertly executed in a home studio environment by a skilled artist. The entire piece is executed with brushed and encrusted gold enamel with delicate gold and pastel pink enamel beads. The central motif is that of a European castle encircled by gold encrusted scrolls, lines, beads and cross-hatched design decorated with pink enamel beads against a muted gold background. The deep outer border of the sculptured four-lobe tray is adorned with flowers formed by gold beads with a pink bead center.
The tray measures 15 1/2" in length, 13 1/2" in width and 1 1/4" in depth. Stamped in green "Limoges A L France" with an anchor, the mark of Lanternier porcelain company, circa 1891-1914. The artist's initials and date are painted in green "A W S 1891". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; the gold has darkened in some areas and several enamel beads have enamel pops.
