Hand painted porcelain expresses the emotional connection between the artist and subject. This lovely hand painted cabinet plate shows the artist's passion and understanding of beautiful floral arrangements and presentation. Executed in a small home-studio environment, dated 1911, by A. (Alice) Basedow. I have other lovely pieces executed buy this artist in my store. The plate is painted on Limoges CMC France white-ware blank, circa early 1900's.
The plate portrays an intertwining Morning Glory vine covered with pastel shaded blossoms of soft pink, purple and lavender nestled among variegated green foliage on narrow brown vines. The background is muted splashed of lavender, light green and light purple with narrow gold edge. The coup-style plate measures 8 1/2" across with no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. Gorgeous color combination.
