Hand painted porcelain expresses the emotional connection between the artist and subject. This lovely cabinet plate shows the artist's passion and understanding of beautiful floral arrangements and presentation. Executed in a small home-studio environment, circa 1910, by A. (Alice) Basedow. I have other lovely pieces executed buy this artist in my store. They are painted on Rosenthal & Co. Kronach white-ware blank, circa 1891-1906.
This lovely cabinet plate is decorated with a large cluster of pansy blossoms in variegated combinations of soft yellow, rich golden tan and pale to medium purple, nestled among shaded green foliage against a muted pastel blue and creamy yellow background with delicate gold edge. Additional floral stems cascade down the sides of the plate. The plate measures 6 3/4" across with no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
