Hand painted china is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home studio environment. The quality of the finished product is what really counts.
This wonderful hand painted vase was expertly decorated in a home studio environment by a skilled artist. The scene portrays a nude young lad seated among a backdrop of wild grasses and floral in shades of moss green, medium brown and pale yellow. The lad has a pastel blue scarf draped across his lap, arms resting upon his knees and in his hands he is holding a delicate bouquet of red and yellow flowers among green foliage. His handsome, innocent face is framed by light brown wavy hair. Across the back of the vase is a lovely garland of tiny pink and yellow blossoms intertwined with green foliage. The graceful embossed arched handles, collar base and neck with a bulb-shaped top is decorated with gold gilt. The vase measures 8 1/4" in height, 3/4" opening at the top and 2 3/8" across the base. Stamped in green "Limoges A L France" with an anchor, the mark of Lanternier porcelain company, circa 1891-1914. The artist's initials and date are painted in red "A.B. '94". There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Fantastic nude portrait vase.
