For that special child or grandchild the ultimate gift is a sterling silver baby rattle. This wonderful vintage rattle, circa 1980's, is in the shape of a carefully proportioned barbell. This barbell measures 3 1/4" in length and the 'bell' ends measure about 7/8" across and weighs approximately 1.2 ounces. Stamped "Mexico - TH-23 - 925". In 1979 a new letter/number mark to indicate the silversmith and sterling standard was introduced in Mexico. The first letter indicates the location "T" which is for Taxco. The second letter is the first initial of the last name of the silversmith "H" The number indicates that he is the XX silversmith with a last name beginning with that letter to register at the city assay office (23rd). Wonderful condition with no damages and great rattling sound.
