The 'Barred Ovals' pattern was manufactured by George Duncan & Sons, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, circa 1890. It was reissued by United States Glass Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, circa 1891, as 'Factory D Line 15,004'. The pattern was also known as Banded Portland, Buckle and Oval and Crossbar. Made in non-flint, clear, clear with frosting or ruby stained.
The pattern consists of a row of the barred ovals surrounding the bowl and raised base with notched ovals on the standard. The piece, in clear glass, measures 7" across, 7 1/4" in height and 4 1/2" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
