This beautiful transfer decorated and gold cabinet plate, circa 1920's, is decorated with a motif consisting of purple double gloxinia blossoms nestled among shaded pastel green & green/tan foliage. The flowers and leaves are delicately outlined and detailed with gold. The gently scalloped edge has a leaf and stem border trimmed with gold. The plate measures 8 3/8" across. It is stamped on double ribbons "Bavarian China & Hand Painted" and the back-stamp of a crown, laurel leaves surrounding a crest and the initials P.T. Bavaria. This denotes the Tirschenreuther Porcelain Factory, operational from 1838-1927, when it was taken over by the Hutschereuther company. Transfer decorated porcelain items were many times marked 'hand painted' because the gold trim and sometimes enamel highlights were hand applied. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Very pretty.
