Throughout our history, Neiman Marcus has always been a company with a unique, if not unconventional, approach to retailing. Herbert Marcus and Al Neiman had the opportunity to either use $25,000 in seed money to open a specialty store or to purchase the Kansas-Missouri franchise for a then-obscure fountain drink called Coca-Cola. They chose opening the store; prompting Herbert's son, the legendary Mister Stanley to claim that, "Neiman Marcus was founded on bad business judgment!"
This wonderful, vintage, silver plated desk set comes in a emerald green velvet covered box. The pieces are large and impressive with the open spiral, twisted wire handles with embossed ball finials. The glass measures 3 7/8" across and 11 1/2" in length. The letter opener also measures 11 1/2" in length. There are no damages; near mint condition with light patina. A great gift for yourself or that person who enjoys the very best.
