This is a wonderful Japanese hand painted lustre-ware celery set, circa 1920-1930, consisting of a master celery tray and six individual salt dishes. The sky is orange lustre with Mt Fuji, lake and shoreline in blue/gray and pearl-white lustre. There is a sailboat on the lake and the shoreline is dotted with groves of trees in medium green and dark blue. Partially hidden among the trees are to pagodas in shades of red and black. The celery handles are trimmed with gold gilt.
The master celery tray measures 10 1/2" in length and 5" in width; the individual salts measure 3 3/4" in length and 2 1/4" in width. All pieces are stamped in red with a circular mark "Hand Painted - Made In Japan". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
