This lovely transfer decorated cabinet plate is covered with large tea rose blossoms in shades of solid pastel pink, white edged with pink and vivid pink with white variegated blossoms, nestled among leaves in shades of shaded greens, tan and gray against a background of mottled pale pink, blue, cream and olive green. The slightly scalloped edge is trimmed with gold gilt.
The plate measures 8 5/8" across. It is stamped in green "Elite L France", the back-stamp of Bawo & Dotter Company, circa 1896-1920, for their white-ware blanks for export. It is also stamped in red "P & B Limoges France", the importing back-stamp used by Pitkins & Brooks, Chicago, circa 1900-1914. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. Lovely subject and color pallet.
