This is a gorgeous Kutani porcelain cabinet plate, circa 1900, from the late Meiji period which ran from 1868-1913.
The plate is profusely decorated with hand-painted images of a pair of peacocks, chrysanthemum blossoms and other delicate foliage, with area of Japanese scenery all done in a pallet of soft reds, pinks, blues, grays, tans and black against the white porcelain background. Much of the decoration is highlighted with gold. The red & black border is decorated with a delicate gold Japanese design.
The plate measure 8 1/4" across and is marked on the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. A beautiful plate for special use or decor.
