This is a fabulous 'once-in-a-lifetime' find of an original art class sketchbook, circa 1901, of colored and black & white drawings of various images, mostly those of Sunbonnet Babies. The covers are hand-cut and tied with a pink ribbon. The water-colored cover shows a log cross, lying on the ground, partially concealed by delicate flowers and vines. Inside are 17 different images on 6 x 9 inch sheets. depicting a house, lighthouse, country lad, horse, cottage, bouquet of flowers, geometric designs and 10 different images of Sunbonnet Babies. All the sunbonnets, the country lad and the bouquet of flowers are in color; the remaining 5 are in black and white. Each is signed by the young artist "Theresa Fiebiger" on the front or back of the image; some images have a caption. The condition of the sketches are fine; there is some expected damage to the cover; there are no tears, stains or repairs. I will also include with this sketchbook the penmanship booklet created by Theresa and entitles "Penmanship - Theresa Fiebiger - 1901". This booklet contains 6 pages of penmanship exercises of the day. If you collect Sunbonnet Babies or early sketchbooks this is a wonderful find.
