Hand painted porcelain expresses the emotional contention between the artist and subject. This lovely 3-piece trio set shows the artist's passion and understanding of beautiful wild roses and their presentation. Executed in a small home-studio environment, circa 1909, they were executed on T&V Limoges porcelain blanks and initialed and dated by the artist.
This wonderful 3-piece trio captures the gorgeous, soft pink, wild rose blossoms nestled among pastel green and tan foliage against a muted background of soft pink, blue and creamy yellow. The gently scalloped and embossed edge of the plate and saucer are decorated with brushed gold, as is the edge and handle of the cup. The plate which measures 6 1/8' across carries only the T&V Limoges stamp; the saucer which measures 4 5/8" across has the T&V Limoges stamp and is signed "J.H.C. Sept 19, '09"; the cup which measures 3" in height and 2 3/8" across has the T&V Limoges stamp and is initialed "J.H.C.". There are no cracks, chips, repairs or wear; near mint and probably never used, only displayed. Have two other lots from this same collection in my store. Lovely.
