William Hobe immigrated to the United States from France in the first part of the twentieth century. The original family-owned-and-operated Hobe Cie jewelry company began in 1927 and was sold in the late 1990's or 2000. The Hobe mark is still being used today.
This lovely, delicate gold-tone wreath brooch is constructed with a twisted wire frame to which is attached two filagree leaves and long curled stem. The wreath is adorned with pastel blue, amethyst and green prong-mounted rhinestones. There are three marquise sets and seven flowers which utilize a combination of the three colors. The brooch measures 1 1/2" across with a safely clasp mechanism. Stamped within an oval cartouche "Hobe" with the copyright symbol above the "o". Near mint condition.
