Opalescent glass has been widely accepted since its inception in the 1880's. The major production covered 40 years (1880 - 1920) by famous American and European glass houses.
This lovely "Shell and Wild Rose" pattern bowl, is a 1906 pattern from the Northwood Company. The wild rose pattern is exterior, but the interior can be plain or with a stippled ray design; this bowl has the plain smooth interior which lets the design show through in great detail. It was produced in opalescent colors of white, blue, green and Vaseline. The open edged inverted heart border is a real piece of mold maker's art. This bowl is a wonderful green opalescent and rests on three curled shell feet. It measures 7 1/2" across and 2 1/2" in height. Though produced by Northwood it is unmarked. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Great pattern and color
