This exquisite transfer decorated and gold footed serving bowl, circa 1920's, has a motif consisting of three large orange variegated tulip blossoms nestled among long, slender leaves in shaded green, tan and steel-blue. The stems, leaves and flowers are delicately outlined and highlighted with gold. The scalloped border is adorned with a wide gold band and the scalloped feet are gold brushed. The bowl measures 8" across and 2 1/2" in height. It is stamped on double ribbons "Bavarian China & Hand Painted" and the back-stamp of a crown, laurel leaves surrounding a crest and the initials P.T. Bavaria. This denotes the Tirschenreuther Porcelain Factory, operational from 1838-1927, when it was taken over by the Hutschereuther company. Transfer decorated porcelain items were many times marked 'hand painted' because the gold trim and sometimes enamel highlights were hand applied. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Lovely.
