Hand painted china is so beautiful and decorative no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home-studio environment. The quality and subject matter of the finished product is what really matters.
This lovely round covered jewelry/dresser box, circa 1900, is decorated on the lid and sides with a variety of mixed nuts as the motif. There are English walnuts, almonds and filberts. The background is a pleasant mix of soft yellowish tan to medium and darker brown. The lid has a gold gilt band along the rim and the base rests of three gold gilt curled feet.
The box measures 4 1/2" across and 3" in height. Marked on the base "Limoges France" and signed by the artist "Wands". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; a very minor nick in the gold gilt on the lid. A lovely size and unique motif covered box for dresser or vanity.
