J.H.Stouffer Company, Chicago, was founded in 1905 and continued in business until 1952. Known as a premier china decorating establishment during the era of the other great Chicago decorating studios. Jacob H. Stouffer was the seventh of nine children, born in the village of Adeline in North Central, Illinois.
This lovely nappy is adorned with shaded medium to light blue and white forget-me-not flowers, nestled among soft green leaves and floating blue pedals. The wide pastel blue border is separated from the creamy center by a delicate blue design. The edge and wide, looped handle is gold gilt. This style was made famous by the Minnie A Luken Studio of Chicago. The nappy measures 6" in length and 4 1/8" in width. Stamped in black, Mark #11, "Stouffer Studio", circa 1925-1938. The blank is R.S Germany, There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition.
