Minnie A Luken opened the Luken Art Studio of china decorating in her home at 747 West Harrison Street, Chicago, Illinois, in 1895, and endured in one form or another at various South Side locations through 1937. Minnie Luken was a prolific producer of florals and a few scenics. Her Forget-Me-Not pattern was a favorite of her customers. She worked for the Pickard China Studio for approximately one year, about 1912.
This lovely set of five cups and saucers is decorated with her FMN pattern in shades of pastel to medium blue and white flowers accented by soft green leaves and floating blue petals. The wide soft blue border is separated from the creamy center of the saucers and bottom of the cups by a band of delicate gold scrolls. The saucers measure 5 1/2" across; the cups measure 2 3/4" across the top and 2 1/4" in height. The cups have a lovely pearl iridescent interior. All the cups are signed 'Luken'; the saucers are not signed. The cups are not stamped as to maker, the saucers are faintly stamped "Nippon". There are no cracks, chips, nicks or repair
