Hand painted china is so beautiful and decorative no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home-studio environment. The quality and subject matter of the finished product is what really matters.
This lovely round covered powder/jewelry/dresser jar, circa 1911, is covered with hand painted wild spring violet blossoms in rich, variegated shades of blue, nestled among shaded soft green foliage. The background is a pleasant mix of pastel creamy yellow, pastel green and hints of apricot. There is gold trim on edge of the base.
The box measures 5 1/2" across and 2 1/2" in height. Marked in green on the base "D & Co - France" which designates the Delinieres Company, mark used from 1894-1900. It is signed and dated by the artist "M. R. Barry '11". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition. A lovely size and motif covered box for dresser or vanity
