The range of wares produced by the Doulton Company since its inception in 1815 has been vast and varied. First located in Lambeth, England, and later expanding to Burslem, England, in 1882.
This beautiful 24 piece set, service for four, is the 'Tapestry' pattern produced from 1966-1988. A bright, cheerful pattern, it consists of a wide border of square and rectangular panels each picturing floral or fruit designs. The rectangular panels contain two designs of delicate white floral; the square panels contain designs of purple plums, red grapes, blackberries, pear, green grapes, cherries and purple grapes. The border has on each side a band of light green, arrow-shaped designs. The edge is trimmed with gold gilt. The cups have a double band of decoration. The set consists of four each: 10 1/2" dinner plates, 8" salad plates, 6 1/2" B&B/dessert plates, 8" rimmed soup bowl and cup/ saucer set. Each piece is stamped with the Royal Doulton logo, "English Translucent China - Tapestry - T.C. 1024 - Copyright - Doulton & Co. Limited". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
