This wonderful factory decorated fruit plate portrays a selection of fruits and fall foliage as a back-drop. The motif consists of a naturalistic bunch of lush purple grapes and two richly colored, ripe peaches, one cut in half with ridged dark seed exposed. The background is a variegation of vivid pink, gray, reddish brown and yellow with silhouettes of gray/green leaves with several detailed leaves in gorgeous fall hues of bright yellow, rusty brown and fading green. The scalloped rococo border is gold encrusted.
The plate is marked in green "Limoges France" and "L.R.L." with a crown, designating Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman, a decorating factory during the 1920's, known for portrait and figural works of art on porcelain. The decorating technique used was part transfer and part hand-painting and carries the signature of the artist, "R C Solis". The plate measures 10 1/4" across, is factory drilled for hanging. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition.
