The "RS" is derived from its founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch, but it was the work of his sons, Arnold and Ehrhard that made the mark famous. With factories in Suhl and Tillowitz, a majority of their production was exported from 1892 until the beginning of World War I The Suhl factory closed before the end of World War I; the Tillowitz factory remained operational until the beginning of World War II.
This lovely cabinet plate, circa 1910 - 1920, is decorated with multi-colored California poppy blossoms in variegated shades of white, pink, rose and violet, nestled among shaded gray/green foliage. The wide gold border is edged with narrow black bands. The plate measures 8 1/4 across" and is stamped in green "R.S. Germany" and in red "Reinhold Schlegelmilch - Tillowitz Germany". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
