Hand decorated porcelain is beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home studio environment. The end result is what really matters.
This beautiful hand painted porcelain serving plate with loop handles, circa 1900, was expertly created in a home studio. The central portion shows three large white tea rose blossoms nestled among shaded green leaves against a slightly pinkish background. This is encircled with by three bands of plain or geometric designs in soft to dark green shades. The wide outer border has oval, white, cloud-like patches edged in black against a solid butterscotch tan field. The border is medium green with a combination of delicate black loops, dots and spider web designs with gold gilt trim and handles. The plate measures 10 1/2" across and 11" from handle-to-handle. It is artist signed "S. P. Paul" and stamped in green "T&V over Limoges over France". The T&V mark designates the Tressemanes & Vogt Company and was used from 1892-1907. Just a great piece of hand painted art.
