Artist A. Koch was well know for his painting of still-life fruit designs.
This lovely china plate carries the transfer of one of his designs, although not signed. The two ripe apples hang from a leave laden branch against a shaded background of shaded brown to pale yellow and pink highlights. The gently scalloped plate measures 8 3/8" across. It is stamped "J & C - Malmaison - Bavaria"; this designates the Jaeger & Co., circa 1898-1923. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
