This lovely and hand painted sugar & creamer set was executed in a small home-studio environment about 1900 by a talented porcelain artist. The porcelain blanks are decorated on front and back with a single shaded pink tea rose blossom and variegated green and tan foliage. The blossoms are connected by two intertwined, thorn laden branches The background is a pastel teal upper border and lid, while the lower portion is a soft pastel yellow. The handles shade to a darker blue/green near their base. The edge on the creamer and handle on lid of the sugar are gold gilt. The sugar measures 5 1/2" from handle-to-handle and 3 1/2" in height; the creamer measures 4 3/4" from handle-to-spout and 2 3/4" in height. Both pieces are stamped "MZ Austria", which designates the Moritz Zdekauer Company, circa 1884-1909. No artist signature. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
