Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if done in a factory, professional decorating studio or a small home studio environment. The overall quality of the piece is what really matters.
This lovely cabinet plate, circa 1916, is the product of a home studio. The white china blank is expertly decorated with shaded light to vivid pink wild rose blossoms, yellow centers and black stamens along with unopened buds nestled among variegated light to dark green leaves on long, thorn covered brown/green stems. Interspersed are small leaves in shades of brown and gray. Background shows hints of green and apricot. The smooth rim is decorated with gold. The artist's signature 'M. Boyer' appears on the front as well as a presentation 'With Love, From Your Worthy Matron, Emmy R. Kunze, 1916'. on the reverse. The plate measures 8 5/8" and is stamped 'IT UNO Favorite Bavaria', the export mark used by C Hutschenreuther Co. Bavaria for the US wholesaler Burley & Tyrrell Co., Chicago, IL, circa 1912. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Beautiful colors and craftsmanship.
