Hand Painted china is beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional decorating studio or by skilled individuals in a home studio environment. During the late 1800's and early 1900's this became a favorite hobby of many American ladies who would purchase china blanks from various companies and create their own works of art.
This lovely hand painted cabinet plate, circa 1920's, was executed in a home studio. The motif consists of a cluster of shaded orange California poppy blossoms and buds nestled among pastel green leaves against a background of pastel yellow, green and pink, with sculptured gold border. The plate is signed by the artist "Rayser". The coup-style plate measures 7 1/2" across and is stamped "Bavaria". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; minor scratches on the gold border.
