William Hobe immigrated to the United States from France in the first part of the twentieth century. The original family owned-and-operated Hobe Cie jewelry company which began in 1927 and was sold in the late 1990's or 2000. The Hobe mark is still being used today.
This beautiful sterling silver brooch, circa 1940's, is is the form of a floral bouquet consisting of a large bunch of embossed leaves and unopened floral buds tied with a ribbon bow. The knot of the bow is covered by an open blossom. The brooch measures an impressive 3 1/2" in length and 1 7/8" in width. It is stamped "Hobe - Sterling - Design Pat'd"" on a rectangular cartouche; this mark was in use from 1941 - 1947. In near mint condition with nice patina.
