This stunning set of 3 portrait plates of gorgeous young ladies by the same artist 'M. W. Bull' were executed in the 'Art Nouveau' style on matching Coiffe Limoges blanks. They were created in a professional decorating studio or established home studio by a very accomplished artisan. The variegated green shades, golden brown and black outlines along with the white, blue and red vocal points on the individual plates is genius.
The first plate portrays the profile of a beautiful young lady with long flowing golden brown coiffure adorned by a laurel of white currants and green leaves. The motif continues unto her shoulders and into the border of the plate with clusters of hanging berries and leaf covered vines.
The second plate portrays the semi-profile of another beautiful young lady with full up-swept golden brown coiffure adorned with a wreath of blueberries and green leaves. The motif continues unto the neckline of her gown and into the border of the plate with vines covered with berries and leaves.
The third third plate portrays the full-facial view of another beautiful young lady with gently swept back golden brown coiffure adorned with several clusters of red cherries and ribbon of green leaves. The motif continues unto the neckline of her gown and into the border of the plate with clusters of hanging fruit from leaf covered branches.
The plates measure 7 1/4" across with sculptured border and embossed design which lent itself to the illusion of vines or branches. They are marked "Limoges" within a seven-point star & "France", indicating the Coiffe Porcelain Company, circa 1891-1914. There are no cracks, chips, repairs or wear. Near mint and over 100 years of age. Fantastic works of art.
