J.H.Stouffer Company, Chicago, was founded in 1905 and continued in business until 1952. Stouffer was the seventh of nine children, born in the village of Adeline in North Central, Illinois
This beautiful pair of small cabinet plates, circa 1905-1907, are decorated with a selection of Almonds, English Walnuts and Filberts in their shells with a background of brown leaves. The background shades from tan to light to dark brown with a gold edging.
The plates measure 6" across. They are both stamped in black with Mark #3 "Stouffer Hand Decorated", and "Thomas - Bavaria" for the blank manufacturer. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. A nice pair of plates by a premier Chicago decorating studio with early studio mark.
