J.H.Stouffer Company, Chicago, was founded in 1905 and continued in business until 1952. Known as a premier china decorating establishment during the era of the other great Chicago decorating studios. Jacob H. Stouffer was the seventh of nine children, born in the village of Adeline in North Central, Illinois

This beautiful hand painted nut/candy, circa 1905-1907, is decorated with a selection of Almonds, English Walnuts and Filberts in their shells with a background of brown leaves. The exterior shades from tan to light to dark brown with a pearl iridescent interior. The oval oval bowl had a gently scalloped folded-over rim and rests on four feet. The rim and feet are solidly decorated with gold.

The serving bowl measures 7 3/4" in length, 6 3/4" in width and 3 3/4" in height. It is stamped in black with Mark #3 "Stouffer's Hand Decorated", and "PIAG Royal - Made in Cecho-slovakia" for the blank manufacturer. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. A wonderful bowl by a premier Chicago decorating studio with early studio mark.
