This wonderful covered oval vegetable tureen, circa 1870-1890, will be a great addition to your dinner service or display cabinet. The inter and outer edge of the base and outer edge of the lid is decorated with a band of gorgeous pink outlined in gold. The base and lid each have wide bands of medium blue geometric and ribbon transfer designs. The round, braided, double finial with trailing ribbons, arched braided handles and four claw feet are highlighted with gold. The tureen measures 13" from handle-to-handle, 7 5/8" in width and 6" in height. There is a faint illegible impressed mark and several enamel numbers and letters. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; minor overall paint and gold wear, light crazing and a manufacturing separation by one of the feet. (see photo)
