Alice Caviness began her work in the fashion industry. Like so many other fashion designers from that era, Caviness began manufacturing jewelry to compliment her fashions. Her company produced jewelery from 1945 to sometime after 1997, even though Alice died in 1983.
This beautiful brooch and earrings set, circa late late 1940's - early 1950's, is composed of gold-filled filigree feathers combined with marquise amethyst open-back rhinestones. The brooch measures 2 1/2" in length, 1 1/2" in width and has a safety clasp mechanism. It is marked "Alice Caviness 1/20 12k G/F" within an oval cartouche. The screw-back earrings measure 1 1/8" in length are stamped "1/20 12k Gold Filled". The set is in excellent condition with some aged patina. Classic, simple and stunning.
