The Castlecliff Company was founded in 1918 by Clifford Burst and Joseph Bobley. The Castlecliff mark was first used in 1941. The advertising slogan was "the talked about jewelry" At some point in the late 1970's, Castlecliff became part of Carnegie Industries, Inc. Sterling Castlecliff pieces are a good investment.
This fabulous 'clear water creatures' creation was designed by Harice M Simmons for Castlecliff, circa 1960's. It is a 'book piece' featured in several books including 'Fun Jewelry' by Nancy Schiffer. The pendant is a clear lucite fishbowl containing five various size gold-tone fishes swimming about in total freedom. It has a double gold-tone chain with round spring closure. The longest chain is a double-link design and measures about 32" in length, the other is an elongated, flat-link design and measures about 24" in length. The lucite fish bowl measures 1 11/16" X 1 3/8" X 7/8" in size. The piece is marked with a metal hang-tag "HMS". The condition is near mint. A great piece of vintage fun jewelry that is guaranteed to get attention from others.
