Ralph DeRosa jewelry is known for its complex dimensional design, high quality components, translucent enameling and wonderful coloring. Ralph DeRosa jewelry designs tend to be florals, figurals, retro motifs, and designs inspired by the precious jewelry of the era. DeRosa jewelry is not easy to find but is certainly worth the search. This New York City firm made jewelry from the mid-1930's until the 1970's, but like many jewelry makers, their 1940's jewelry is the best.
This classic, circa 1940's, is composed of sterling silver in up-sweep wing design. The wing is set with several rows of various size round diamond rhinestones. The bottom edge of the wing has eight, tear-drop faux pearls, with an additional larger size suspended from the center as an independent drop. The brooch measures 2" in length, 1 1/4" in width and has a safety clasp mechanism. The back is stamped "DeRosa - Sterling". The piece is in excellent vintage condition with no damages or missing sets. Scarce piece by a noted designer.
